Dr. Fang has more than 150 scientific publications. Notably, he has contributed to 16 high-impact publications in distinguished journals like Science and Nature Series as both corresponding and co-author. His research spectrum spans an array of subjects, encompassing artificial muscles, energy harvesting, carbon nanomaterials, thin films, and sensors. His publications have accumulated a total count of 17,928 citations with an h-index of 50 and i10-index of 86 according to Google Scholar. Nine of his publications have been cited more than 500 times. His expertise and accomplishments have earned him esteemed accolades including Nano 50 Awards from Nanotech Briefs Magazine for Carbon Nanotube Sheets and Yarns (2006), the Scientific American Magazine 50 recognition(2006), and R&D 100 Special Recognition Gold Award for Market Disruptor Product (2015).

In December 2023, Dr. Fang will be invited for Joint Research on Enhance Catalytic Electrodes through Anchoring Sn-Pd Alloy Nanoparticles on Carbon Microfibers and Nanotubes for Direct Ethanol Fuel Cells hosted by Prof. Song-Zhu Kure-Chu.
