Prof. Michael Engel is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. He obtained his doctorate degree in physics from Universität Stuttgart in 2008. Following this, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research group specializes in simulations of atoms, molecules, and soft matter systems, with a focus on the self-assembly of nanocrystals, modeling crystallization processes, materials optimization, and the development of advancing simulation algorithms.

In August 2024, Prof. Michael Engel is invited to NITech for collaboration with Associate Professor Masaharu Isobe on the investigation of efficient translational diffusion in hard polygon systems and its microscopic mechanism through molecular simulation.
