She has extensive expertise in cancer biology, epigenetic regulation, chromatin biology and -omics, with publications in Nature Cell Biology, EMBO J and Molecular Cell. More recently, her research has focused on oral epithelial biology, organotypic in vitro models, epithelial–stromal interactions and single-cell approaches. Current projects incorporate tuneable matrix hydrogels and interactions with implants, immune cells and oral biofilms.

In September 2026, Prof. WIENCH will be invited to NITech by Prof. Obata for collaboration in research of Biomaterials applications in in vitro models.
