Prof. John T.M. Kennis is a Full Professor in Department of Physics and Astronomy in Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He received the MSc/BA  in Physics from  University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1992 and the PhD degree in Biophysics from  Leiden University, The Netherlands in 1997. Since 2010, he has affiliation with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

His research involves the physico-chemical mechanisms of reception, storage and processing of photic energy and information in biology, biomimetic systems and energy converting materials.

In June 2024, Prof. KENNIS is invited to NITech for collaboration of time-resolved infrared and Raman spectroscopy on  light-receptive proteins hosted by Associate Professor Kota KATAYAMA.
