Prof. JaeHwang Kim is a full professor in the Department of Convergence Manufacturing System Engineering at the University of Science and Technology (UST), andalso serves as a principal researcher at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH).
His research interests are primarily focused on the development of advanced aluminum alloys and light-weight structural materials, with particular emphasis on nanocluster formation, precipitation behavior, and mechanical properties of Al–Mg–Si based alloys.
He has published extensively in the fields of materials science and metallurgy, where innovative approaches such as multi-step aging processes, microstructural characterization, and data-driven methods including machine learning are explored to optimize material performance.
In March 2026, Prof. Kim will be invited to NITech by Dr. Mihara-Narita for collaboration.
Title of given lecture in NITech: Quantitative Approach to Minimize Errors for cluster analysis using Atom Probe Tomography in Al–Mg–Si(–Cu–Sn) Alloys
