Dr. Patrik HOFFMAN is the Head of Advanced Materials Processing laboratory , Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Sciences and Technology (Empa), Switzerland, and Professor at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.

His Research focus on Electromagnetic wave-material interactions for applications such as short pulse large surface materials ablation, laser welding, and optimal microwave heating of complex multi-component systems. In February 2025, Dr. HOFFMAN is invited to NITech for Joint Research on laser, patterningand shaping hosted by Prof. Takashi SHIRAI.
